About Trenton Charity Comic Con

The Trenton Charity Comic Con is a philanthropic initiative from the high school run by enthusiastic students from the Comic Book & Manga Club, Volunteer Club, and Restaurant and Business Management Academy with assistance from passionate teacher volunteers. Each year, the students from the Comic Book & Manga Club will hold a vote early in the school year to pick the charity we choose to raise funds for each year. Our charity for the school year is announced each Fall after nominations and voting have been conducted by the Comic Book & Manga Club Students.

For any additional event information, including vendor and exhibitor details, please contact the event coordinator, Edward Hoplock, at EHoplock@gmail.com or EHoplock@Trenton.K12.NJ.US. Edward is a Social Studies teacher at Trenton Central High School, has run the after school Comic Book & Manga Club for over 10 years, and created the curriculum for the “Graphically Speaking” elective at TCHS he has been teaching for the past 5 years that uses comic books, graphic novels, and manga to increase student engagement, literacy, comprehension skills, civics, and social-emotional learning. Mr. Hoplock has also presented at New York Comic Con (2022) about a variety of ways to incorporate “Comics in Classrooms” for schools and libraries.

A.I. Art Restriction Policy

The Trenton Charity Comic Con is a philanthropic endeavor meant to promote creativity in the arts in a community environment. While we understand the increased presence of A.I. generated work becoming a part of different aspects of life as a growing part of our culture,  we encourage our participating creators and vendors to promote and appreciate man-made creations. While digital tools have changed the landscape of what a creator can make and how they make it, we respect that even with tablets and computers the work is still human designed and more importantly the output is developed from the skill and expertise that its creators pour into their work that cultivate so much love from fans of all the beautiful art forms that we share in making and processing. A.I. generated art and writing undercut the value in the human spirit that creates art and the creative community that is at the heart of our event, and our effort in appreciating the human aspects of art is something we strive to maintain and illuminate in this ever-changing global and technological landscape. Thank you for your consideration in being respectful of this request and event policy.
